29th February 2003.
It was my 10th birthday.
A day to celebrate,
and rejoice,
and a day to forget.
Some birthday.
I watched as my mother blaze with
flames meant for the infernos of hell
not the timid rooftops if candles.
I watched my younger sister,
with her innocent blue eyes that
sparkled in the glow of candlelight,
and knew she felt sorry for me.
17 June 2008.
It was her 10th birthday.
A day to celebrate,
and rejoice,
and a day to forget.
But,
I called my sister out from the din
and held her tight amidst the cacophony,
so that she would not spend her special day
in tears,
like I did.
